stopping by.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I look at a lot of essential trade business websites around Vancouver, and there\u2019s a situation that\u2019s easy to miss:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone actually tries to contact the business\u2026<br>and from their point of view, they think it worked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But on the business side, nothing ever comes through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When the contact attempt just disappears<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This isn\u2019t about getting visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not about whether your <a href=\"https:\/\/robertwest.ca\/blog\/2026\/02\/16\/tap-to-call-not-working-how-many-jobs-are-you-losing\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"125\">phone number is visible or easy to tap<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is what happens <strong>after someone has already decided to reach out.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>fill out your form<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>click your email<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>send a text (sms) message<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>try a live chat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>or reach out through social media<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and somewhere in that process, it breaks down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What this looks like in real situations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are the kinds of issues that don\u2019t show up unless you go looking for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A form is submitted, but no message is ever received<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The message gets flagged as spam and never seen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The page refreshes after submitting, but gives no confirmation that anything happened<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An email link opens, but isn\u2019t set up properly on mobile<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A \u201cRequest a Quote\u201d button leads somewhere, but doesn\u2019t actually complete anything<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And just as often:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A customer sends a text message, but it never reaches you<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or they send a <strong>photo (like a leak, damage, or issue)<\/strong> and it fails to deliver<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A live chat message is sent, but no one ever sees it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A message comes through Facebook or Instagram, but you don\u2019t get notified<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the customer\u2019s side, it feels like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI reached out.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the business side, it looks like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">nothing happened<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Text messages are often overlooked<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A lot of businesses assume:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf someone calls, I\u2019ll get it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But many customers \u2014 especially on mobile \u2014 will text instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And not just simple texts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They\u2019ll often send photos to explain the problem:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a broken pipe<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>electrical panel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>damaged unit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s the difference between:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>SMS (text-only messages)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>MMS (messages that include photos or media)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your number can\u2019t receive one or both properly, those messages can fail without you ever knowing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A simple way to check this<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This part is straightforward, but most people never do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Try this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Text your own business number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Send a normal message<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then send a message with a photo<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re using the same phone, you can test from a free app like TextNow to simulate a real customer from a real local number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then check:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Did both messages come through?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did the photo (MMS) arrive properly?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did anything fail or get delayed?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If not, that\u2019s something a customer would run into too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not just forms and texts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are a few other places this breaks down&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Phone numbers that block or hide information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your number is set up in a way that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>blocks unknown callers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>shows as \u201cNo Caller ID\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>or isn\u2019t clearly identifiable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some customers won\u2019t even try, and most won&#8217;t call you back \u2014 or their calls may not go through the way you expect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Social media messages you never see<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have a business page on platforms like Facebook or Instagram:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Are message notifications turned on?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do you get alerts on your phone or email?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because if someone reaches out there and gets no response, it looks the same as being ignored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Live chat tools that aren\u2019t monitored<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re using something like live chat (for example, tools like tawk.to or HubSpot):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Are messages being forwarded to an email you actually check?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do you get notified right away, ideally by mobile notification?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If not, customers can send a message and sit there waiting\u2026<br>until they finally leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why this is different from other issues<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In earlier situations, the problem is usually visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A phone number doesn\u2019t work when tapped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/robertwest.ca\/blog\/2026\/03\/02\/why-your-contact-form-isnt-bringing-in-leads-even-if-it-works\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"127\">contact form<\/a> is hard to use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information doesn\u2019t <a href=\"https:\/\/robertwest.ca\/blog\/2026\/04\/13\/why-your-website-and-listings-dont-match-and-why-that-costs-you-calls\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"135\">match across platforms<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those create hesitation before someone acts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here, there\u2019s no hesitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They\u2019ve already taken the step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The problem is there\u2019s no clear outcome<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most common patterns here is a lack of feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone reaches out and:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the page just reloads<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>or nothing visibly changes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>or there\u2019s no message confirming it was sent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So from both sides, the connection just\u2026 stops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why this matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When someone reaches out, they\u2019re usually ready to move forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If that message never reaches you \u2014 or they\u2019re not sure it worked \u2014 that opportunity is gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And unlike other issues, you don\u2019t see it happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There\u2019s no error message.
